CILCA stands for Central Illinois Lutheran Camp Association. As members of the Central Illinois District of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, we are part owners of the Camp CILCA, and therefore CILCA is an extension of our ministry. The mission statement of Camp CILCA is: “Activated by the Holy Spirit through the Word, Camp CILCA is a Lutheran Ministry which empowers and equips God’s people to appreciate His creation, enjoy the fellowship of being together, and grow in their daily walk in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” The Vision Statement of Camp CILCA is simple: “S321". “S321" stands for “Serve the Church, Support the Family, and Share the Savior in the 21st Century.”
Camp CILCA was originally purchased in 1948, initially by Walther League, but it became a joint project with the Central Illinois District (CID) and the Lutheran Laymen’s League (LLL). Facilities include the Christian Growth Center (hotel-style rooms), Retreat Center (dormitory rooms), cabins, campground (for tents & RV’s), Indoor Chapel, Outdoor Chapel, and Dining Hall. CILCA also has a challenge course for facilitated group building activities. The 13-acre lake and beach provide opportunities for swimming, swimming, canoeing, paddle boating, and kayaking. Other recreational options include hiking on the wooded trails, archery, Frisbee golf, volleyball, softball, etc.
Statistics have indicated that after a child’s parents and pastor, their experience at a Christian camp has the next greatest impact on their Christian faith. Camp CILCA is committed to fostering the Christian faith of all generations in an outdoor setting.
